We look forward to instructing your child in the basics of cheer in the coming months. We are providing 2024 AYFL Information Packet to provide you with information on the coming season. Please be sure to read through this packet; if you have any questions you can contact me at cheer@ayfl.org.

Our goal is to provide a cheer program for the youth of the Ashburn area.

The AYFL will provide a structure of Safety, Knowledge, Organization, and Quality Leadership that will allow each participant to learn, understand, and demonstrate the fundamentals of youth cheer. Our coaches will foster a sense of pride, spirit, knowledge, and excitement that will be permanently embedded in each player's life on and off the sideline.

The AYFL will strive to build the foundation needed at the youth cheer level to allow each participant the ability to continue their cheerleading careers into Middle School, High School, and beyond. This can only be done through knowledge, dedication, and teamwork by this organization's board, participants, members, and entire community.

Teams

Cheer teams will be assigned to one AYFL football team in their respective division for the 2024 Fall season. The AYFL has multiple teams in each division, thus we are unable to provide what team your child will be assigned to until after the AYFL Draft (July 22nd, 2024). Divisions are grade-based:

• D-League (K-2nd grade)
• C-League (3-4th grade)
• B-League (5-6th grade)
• A7-League (7th grade)
• A8-League (8th grade)

PRACTICES

The fall 2024 season will start on July 29th, 2024.

All practices will be held approximately 2 evenings per week at an Ashburn area school with a game on Saturday (starting Saturday, August 24th to  November 16th). Parents of K-5th grade cheerleaders can expect practices to last 1 hour, while those in 6-8th grade will last 1.5 hours. 

Practices will start no earlier than 4:30PM and end no later than 8:30PM.

Games

Games will take place every Saturday between August 24th and November 16th, 2024 (except for Labor Day weekend). Games will occur at one of the following fields:

• Briar Woods High School (Ashburn, VA)
• Stone Bridge High School (Ashburn, VA)
• Bill Allen Field (Sterling, VA)
• Woodgrove High School (Purcellville, VA)
• Loudoun Valley High School (Purcellville, VA)
• Tuscarora High School (Leesburg, VA)

Parents will receive the full regular season game schedule (dates/times/locations) via the SportsEngine Team App in mid-August. 

Important Dates:

• July 29th, 2024 - Practices Begin
• August 17th, 2024 - Jamboree/Picture Day at Briar Woods High School
• August 24th, 2024 - First Game
• August 31st - September 2nd, 2024 - Labor Day Weekend (No games/practices) 
• October 26th, 2024 - Final Regular Season Game
• November 2nd, 2024 - First Playoff Game
• November 9th, 2024 - Semi-Finals
• November 16th, 2024 - Championship Games

The following events are TBD and will be announced as we approach the season: Homecoming Day Parade, Fairfax County Cheer Showcase

League communication will be made through email.

Cheer will communicate via the Sports Engine app. Please download and log into it with your registration account after registration.

Once your cheerleader is assigned a squad you will get an invite to join. Only parents/legal guardians will be invited. Please also ensure your cell phone number is included as your primary number on your profile and have text messaging enabled to make sure you receive the most up to date information.
